Amazon Summer Favorites for Teachers Trying to Actually Relax

Summer break finally rolls around, and like most teachers, I tell myself I’m going to relax, recharge, and enjoy slower days. But… if you’re anything like me, “relax” still ends up looking like organizing closets, chasing a toddler around, and low-key thinking about next school year.
If you’re trying to squeeze in some real rest—or at least make life a little easier during these summer weeks—here are a few Amazon finds that are making a difference for me this summer.
1. My Kindle = My Summer Lifesaver
I got a Kindle Paperwhite for Christmas this year and honestly… I’m obsessed. It’s lightweight, waterproof, and I can read outside without glare.
If you’ve been on the fence, summer is the best time to grab one, especially because Kindle Unlimited often runs summer deals on unlimited reading plans.
Here’s what I’m loving:

Kindle Unlimited Membership (Tons of free books for one low monthly price). This is worth it in the summer. My sister is also a teacher and has already read six books this month alone, saving her LOTS.
Current favorite summer reads:
The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
The Housemaid by Freida McFadden
Every Summer After by Carley Fortune
(If you’re more of a paperback person, I linked those books too below!)
2. If You’re Not a Kindle Person… Book Light to the Rescue
If you’re sticking with real books but still like to read late at night without waking anyone else… this clip-on book light is a game changer.
Small, rechargeable, and doesn’t leave that weird blue light glow everywhere.
3. Staying Cool: Small Summer Comforts I’m Loving
Let’s talk about surviving backyard time, playground trips, and afternoons at the park (especially if you’ve got kids at home like I do).
My go-to Amazon summer comfort finds:
Portable Fan (attaches to strollers, chairs, or bedside)
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen (non-greasy and teacher-budget friendly)
Insulated Tumbler (because hydration and this is the cutest AND no spills)
4. Little Summer Hobbies Just for Me (That Don’t Feel Like More Work)
I’ll be honest—finding time for “me hobbies” during summer break is rare, but when I do, it’s usually something low-pressure and creative.
Lately, I’ve been loving these:
Aesthetic Paint by Numbers Kits – Neutral, calming designs that actually match home decor when finished (not the cheesy ones I remember from childhood)
Adult Coloring Books with a Modern Vibe – Mandalas, florals, and abstract patterns—easy to pick up and put down when I get interrupted
Brush Pens or Fine Liners – For coloring or even just making my planner look cuter
Nothing super time-consuming… just quick creative wins for when I get a few minutes of quiet.
5. Summer Food Finds We’re Loving (Toddler and Mom-Approved)
When it’s hot and no one feels like cooking, snacks and cold treats have been our go-to. These are the things both my toddler and I are reaching for lately:
Popsicle Molds – We’ve been making smoothie pops with yogurt and frozen fruit
Mini Silicone Snack Cups – Perfect for blueberries, pretzels, or homemade trail mix
Chia Seeds – For chia pudding or tossing into smoothies
Bento Lunch Boxes – Even though we’re home, these make snack time more fun (and help with portion control for both of us)
Easy, fun, and no cooking required most days.
Whether it’s a new book, a fun art project, or just a toddler-approved snack that buys me five minutes of quiet—this summer I’m leaning into the little things that make life feel a bit easier (and a lot more fun).
